Arriving in the U.S. as an immigrant, breaking into the cinematography scene felt like taking on a wild adventure. I left my home country, the industry I knew and plunged into a new world. At first, it was tough and I didn’t have that many contacts. But my determination kept me going, and I was fortunate to break into the industry. I quickly learned the power of teamwork as the head of the camera department. I couldn't do it all alone. That's when I met the camera operators and skillful assistants who became my lifeline. We weren't just colleagues; they were collaborators, friends, and more. We faced challenging shoots, demanding directors, and unpredictable weather together. As we tackled these obstacles, our synergy became pure magic on screen. What's beautiful is that we grew not just as professionals but as people. I learned from them, they learned from me, and our diverse backgrounds added flavor to our work. Looking back, I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunities and the amazing people who've been part of my journey. We may come from different corners of the world, but our shared love for great images and stories transcends borders. The U.S. may have been a challenging start, but it's also where I found my people in this exciting cinematic adventure.
